Alam Guman Ochre Short Jacket
Naheed Collection
Naheed Collection
Hello! How can I help you today?
This bold mid-length mustard jacket is inspired by the grandeur of royal Mughal processions. The front panels feature jewel-toned elephants rendered in intricate detail, while rows of stylised tulips along the sleeve hems add a softer, playful touch.
The design draws from the Mughal tradition of celebrating prized court treasures, where elephants were symbols of power and prestige. One famous tusker, Alam Guman, was presented to Emperor Jahangir in 1614 alongside seventeen others from Mewar. This elephant exemplifies the meticulous care with which the Mughals recorded and celebrated their courtly possessions. The jacket channels that same spirit of majesty and attention to detail in a contemporary, wearable form.
